  • T0: This is the highest tier in a tier list, reserved for the most powerful or effective options in the game. Characters or strategies in this tier are considered to be essential picks for competitive play and are often banned in tournaments.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Best Characters


Good Mobility: Between his Turbulenz teleports, Wirbelwind command dashes, and his Delta Leap walljumps, Lancelot’s mobility is near unparalleled.

Versatile Sweep: 2U is a great forward-moving attack that can low profile under various normals and projectiles for an easy punish. It also gives hard knockdown on hit, and can even be made safe on block if spaced properly.

Strong Okizeme: Wogenstrom is a projectile that is very plus on block, enabling a variety of pressure and mixups when used as a meaty after a knockdown.

Strong Pressure: The Southern Cross series and their followups move Lancelot forward, can be delayed to create frame traps, and can even be spaced to be even or plus on block. Using them in conjunction with Turbulenz allows Lancelot to repeatedly reset pressure or land throws once the opponent has been conditioned to block.
Short Range: Lancelot can struggle in neutral against characters who have longer normals and faster projectiles.

Low Damage: Having low average combo damage and lower than average Skybound Art damage forces Lancelot to be on the offensive as much as possible, as he is unlikely to close out rounds off regular conversions unless he scores a big anti-air 2H or Turbulenz counterhit.

Nontraditional Meterless Reversal: H Turbulenz is not a DP
-style reversal that attacks while rising, which limits anti-air options and makes escaping pressure more risky.

Well Rounded: Percival is blessed with strong normals, whiff punish tools, and a passable fireball as well as a good meterless reversal on defense.

Pressure: long reaching L normals and spaced Anzünden give Percival strong and consistent pressure up close and midscreen. He can also capitalize on conditioned opponents with X-Seele, a command grab that he can combo off of.

Whiff Punishment: his aforementioned strong normals convert into high damage and a knockdown with Zerreissen.

Damage: Percival’s damage is above average and becomes extremely high if he has Träumerei stocks or lands a counterhit
Sluggish: while long-ranged, Percival’s normals have slow recovery and Anzünden projectiles don’t travel far without stocks, making it difficult to contest zoners at certain ranges.

Resource Reliant: Percival’s whiff punish ability and pressure is greatly lessened without Träumerei orbs available.

Powerful Okizeme: Ferry’s okizeme is amazing thanks to Geegee, as he allows her to set-up powerful hit/throw mixups, as well as 50/50s that can loop into itself.

Great Pokes: Most of Ferry’s normals boasts extremely long range that can convert into knockdown with Gespenst and begin her okizeme.

Invincible Reversal: Ferry possesses an invincible reversal in Beppo, Sic ‘Em!, which gives her a leg to stand on when defending against a close range assailant.

Strong Air Mobility: Spectral Dive can be used to halt Ferry’s momentum and Ghostswing is great for getting around the stage during a match. Both can be used to bait anti-airs, or to get out of disadvantageous situations.
Slow Normals: All of Ferry’s normals are slower than average, making her ability to abare somewhat awkward and often relies on her reversal to escape pressure.

Slow Forward movement:
Ferry’s walkback speed is one of the best in the game but both her forward walk and her forward run are among the slowest of all characters.

Low Health: Ferry has lower than average health, meaning that she can’t afford to make many mistakes.

Awkward Anti-Airs: Ferry’s 2H and c.M only covers very specific angles and 2H is air blockable. Her reversal can remedy this but only the H version is air unblockable and it doesn’t lead into good reward.

Ambiguous Pressure: Many special attacks has ambiguous startup animation or delayed active frames, great for messing with opponent’s decision-making. Excellent at controlling the pace of the match.

Good Offensive Pressure: Without the use of hard committing moves like his command grab, non ex fireball pressure, or his command grab, he has good offensive pressure.

Great Fireball: Goetia and its follow-ups keep rushing opponents in check.

Great Whiff Punishes: With possibly one of the best backdashes in the game and his great f.H, being able to force whiffs and punish accordingly is very feasible to do.

Great Conversions: Can convert off of almost anything.

Good Defensive Options: A good variety of options to choose from on defense in the form of DP, 5U, and 2L.
Mediocre Normal Range: While their frame data is quite good, his normals can be challenged by more specialized characters, requiring him to play somewhat unorthodox in the midrange.

Simple and Strong: Katalina has all the tools she needs to win and is incredibly well-rounded.

Anti-Airs: Between 2H, 623H, and f.H, Katalina can intercept jumping opponents quite easily at any range.

Powerful Pokes: All of Kat’s far buttons, as well as her 2M
, are top-of-the-line pokes and whiff punishing tools. They’re either faster or longer reaching than any other character’s comparative normal.

Damage Access: Katalina can force wallbounces from farther distances than other characters using 214H, and it can be increased even further with Rush.

Cooldown Cycling: Katalina only has three special moves, making committing to an EX move more impactful than the rest of the cast. Cycling her corner pressure requires either two cooldowns or 50 meter.

Hurtboxes: All of Katalina’s best pokes (even 2M) and even her fireballs have extended low hurtboxes, making them quite weak to being counterpoked by lows. She has no real way to deal with this and is usually forced to trade. 214L is also prone to getting low-profiled.

Above average damage: With a lot of corner carry, the ability to use two specials in one combo even midscreen, and an easier time achieving successful jump-ins, Charlotta’s damage output is generally higher compared to the rest of the cast.

Strong pressure and okizeme: She has many ways to pressure and stay in thanks to advancing normals and specials such as Sword of Lumiel. On knockdowns, her Noble Strategy brings a variety of ways to mix and open your opponent up which gets especially dangerous in the corner.

Awkward to fight: Her fast jumps and burst range forces your opponent to play patient and react quick or get snowballed in a matter of seconds. Additionally, her reversals and supers can be awkward to punish. She also has a tendency to fall out of combos that would work on most others in the cast thanks to her fall speed.

Good jumps: Her fast fall speed means anti airing Charlotta is harder than most. The shorter jump-arc also makes her cross-up game stronger. Characters who can’t rely on anti airing with a reversal can get overwhelmed quick, especially once you bring her Noble Strategy into the mix.
Somewhat stubby normals: Most other characters have pokes that outrange Charlotta’s pokes, with the exception of her f.H which is too slow to be reliably used in neutral.

Slower reversal: Holy Ladder is one of the few slower, non-metered reversals in the game. It is susceptible to being low-profiled and as a result allows other characters to pressure her easier, especially those who can play around both weaknesses.

Struggles vs zoning: Since she has no fireball of her own, she has trouble dealing with projectiles in general.

Awkward anti-airs: Her 2H is very slow. This means she often has to rely on other tools to anti air like Holy Ladder or 5U which generally net her less reward, or use c.H which is a proximity normal that only triggers if the opponent is close enough.
