How to Get to Arcane Tower Basement in BG3

To reach the basement in the Arcane Tower, you have two options:

  1. Get the Guiding Light Ring from Bernard.
  2. Use a Light Spell on the Elevator platform.

If you choose not to defeat Bernard, you need to find someone with a Light scroll, cantrip, or something similar. For example, Shadowheart can learn a Light cantrip, and there’s a chance Gale might have one through the Evocation subclass. Drow also has Dancing Lights as a racial cantrip, although we haven’t confirmed that ourselves. Once you figure that out, cast Light on the elevator on the top floor to reveal a new button that takes you to the basement. Alternatively, if you have the Guiding Light Ring dropped by Bernard, you can use it to reveal the same button on the elevator.

With the basement button pressed, you’ll teleport into the Arcane Tower’s basement. Here, you can find extra loot in boxes and bookcases. However, the real prizes down here are two items:

  1. Sparkswall Ring: This prevents electrocution, making it a great pair with the Staff of Creation you get from defeating Bernard. It’s especially useful for a Storm Sorcerer Build or a Tempest Cleric Build.
  2. Staff of Arcane Blessing: This staff is fantastic because it gives you an extra dice roll when you cast Bless on targets. This means allies now get 2d4 for attack and saving throws while under the effects of the wielder’s Bless concentration.
