New World PvP Tier List

Based on the latest patch, our New World PvP Tier List is as follows:

T0

T1

T2

T3

Tier 0

Hatchet

A one-handed weapon featured prominently in our tier list is primarily designed for melee combat. However, its versatile talent tree offers the unique ability to transform the hatchet into a formidable ranged weapon.

Investing points in both Dexterity and Strength is essential for maximizing its potential. The weapon’s mastery is skillfully represented through two distinct paths: Berserker and Throwing trees.

Of noteworthy mention is the skill “Berserking Refresh” within the talent tree. When the Berserk state concludes, this skill allows you to recover a substantial 30% of your maximum health. This feature holds immense significance in PvP scenarios, often taking your opponent by surprise.

In recognition of its exceptional prowess in player-versus-player encounters, the hatchet has earned a coveted S rating on our tier list, solidifying its position as one of the most formidable weapons for PvP combat

Ice Gaunlet

Ice Gauntlets, scaling with Intelligence, offering Ice Tempest and Builder skill trees, excelling in crowd control and reflective damage.

These comprehensive descriptions should help players make informed decisions about their weapon choices and playstyles in the diverse world of New World.

Life Staff

It not only inflicts impairments but also offers healing abilities.

Currently, it stands as the sole weapon within New World capable of bestowing both healing and protective buffs.

When wielding the Life Staff in combination with an Ax or Sword, you virtually become invulnerable. This combination empowers you to deal substantial damage while simultaneously healing yourself in the face of adversity.

To fully harness the Life Staff’s potential, it is advisable to allocate points towards the Focus attribute.

The Life Staff Mastery encompasses two essential paths: Healing and Protector, making it a versatile weapon suitable for both PvP, particularly in duel scenarios, and PvE engagements

Rapier

Moving on to Rapiers, another one-handed weapon type in New World:

Rapiers are agile melee weapons known for their swift lunge attacks. Their distinctive characteristics include:

  • Proficiency in precise timing and outmaneuvering opponents, accompanied by the application of bleeds that gradually sap the target’s health.
  • Damage scaling with both Intelligence and dexterity.
  • Light attacks delivering a full 100% thrusting weapon damage, while light middle swipes trade some damage for speed, dealing 66% thrusting weapon damage.
  • Heavy attacks, on the other hand, deliver a potent 133% thrusting weapon damage.

Tier 1

Bow

Among the top choices for long-range combat, the bow stands out.

The bow excels in hitting distant targets, offering swift reloads, and permitting agile movement.

To unlock its full potential, it’s crucial to invest skill points into Dexterity, the attribute closely tied to bow mastery.

A premium bow can attain an impressive gear score ranging between 500 to 600 points, firmly establishing it within the coveted S tier.

The Bow Mastery splits into two distinct paths: Skirmisher and Hunter, each offering unique abilities and playstyles.

Notably, the bow is highly effective as a PvP weapon, further emphasizing its versatility and combat prowess.

Fire Staff

Weapons of the magical variety that conjure potent fire spells.

These are not your run-of-the-mill fireballs; they unleash devastating spells of mass destruction, inflicting a burning status effect upon foes.

The Fire Staff shines in creating formidable combinations for crowd control and enemy obliteration.

To wield the Fire Staff effectively, it’s crucial to allocate sufficient skill points into the Intelligence attribute.

The Fire Staff Mastery is further divided into two distinct branches: Fire Mage and Pyromancer trees, each offering unique abilities and pathways for mastery.

Great Sword

Greatswords, also a two-handed weapon type, offer a distinct gameplay experience:

Greatswords, like Great Axes and War Hammers, are two-handed weapons, but they rely on martial techniques rather than sheer power to defeat foes. They offer a blend of offensive and defensive stances, setting them apart in terms of gameplay, and feature unique visual characteristics.

Spear

The spear serves as a two-handed melee weapon, providing players with rapid, penetrating attacks that, when combined with debuffs, diminish the effectiveness of an opponent’s defense.

Notably, the spear boasts the greatest reach of all melee weapons, and its versatility extends to ranged combat through its throwing capabilities.

For optimal proficiency, it’s advisable to allocate skill points into both Dexterity and Strength.

The Spear Mastery encompasses two key paths: Zoner and Impaler trees, each offering unique skill sets and progression.

When it comes to one-on-one melee PvP encounters, wielding a spear significantly enhances your chances of emerging victorious.

Warhammer

Warhammers are powerful but slow weapons known for dealing significant damage and breaking through enemy defenses. They shine in PvE scenarios, especially when facing numerous foes. Investing points in strength is crucial for mastering Warhammers. The War Hammer Mastery offers two distinct paths: Juggernaut and Crowd Crusher, but it may not be the best choice for PvP encounters against fast and mobile opponents.

Sword And Shield

Each of these weapons can be independently employed, meaning that the sword and shield are distinct pieces of equipment.

Utilizing weapon combinations, such as the coordination of striking and defensive shielding, proves to be an exceptional strategy for both PvE and PvP engagements.

To excel in wielding these two weapons, prioritizing the Strength and Dexterity attributes is essential.

The Sword and Shield Mastery is divided into two specialized branches: Swordmaster and Defender trees, each offering unique skill sets and progression.

It’s worth noting that the shield also possesses offensive capabilities, with top-tier shields boasting a base damage potential ranging from 193 to 223.

Unlike the previous two weapons discussed, these are strictly intended for melee combat scenarios.

Tier 2

Musket

The lyrics of the song underscore the notion that this particular weapon isn’t universally suitable, leading to its B-tier classification on the tier list. Its application isn’t straightforward in both PvP and PvE contexts.

Drawbacks include significant clustering and dispersion, alongside lengthy reload times. Nevertheless, musketeers can compensate by employing tactical traps in combat and executing effective crowd control.

To excel with the musket, a strategic focus on boosting the Dexterity Attribute and Intelligence is recommended.

The Musket Mastery path is segmented into two distinct tracks: Sharpshooter and Trapper trees, each offering specialized skills and progressions.

Tier 3

Great Axe

Impressive, but decidedly sluggish, making it less ideal for PvP where it can be susceptible to evasive maneuvers.

However, it shines in delivering significant damage in one-on-one PvE duels, particularly if you purposefully allocate points into the Strength attribute.

Great Axes offer two distinct Masteries: Reaper and Mauler, each offering its unique set of skills and progression paths.

As we await the New World game’s release, it remains challenging to definitively categorize which weapons will excel in PvP versus PvE. Most likely, the latest beta version serves as a step towards achieving a balance between weapons and skills.

Anticipated revisions to the tier list and evolving weapon combinations are expected to emerge as the game evolves, providing a more refined understanding of each weapon’s strengths and applications.

Tier Ranking Criteria

  • T0: This is the highest tier in a tier list, reserved for the most powerful or effective options in the game. Weapons or strategies in this tier are considered to be essential picks for competitive play and are often banned in tournaments.
  • T1: This tier is just below T0-tier and includes weapons or strategies that are still very strong and effective, but not quite as dominant as those in the T0-tier.
  • T2: This tier includes weapons or strategies that are considered to be average or balanced in terms of their strength and effectiveness. They may have some strengths and weaknesses, but they are not as dominant as those in the higher tiers.
  • T3: This is the lowest tier in a tier list, reserved for the weakest or least effective options in the game. Weapons or strategies in this tier are often considered to be inferior to other options and may be rarely used in competitive play.

It’s important to note that the exact definitions and criteria for each tier can vary depending on the game and the community creating the tier list. Additionally, a weapons or strategy’s placement in a tier list is not always an accurate reflection of its overall strength or effectiveness, as factors such as player skill and game balance can also play a significant role.
