Tower Defense X – Ranger Guide

Overview

The Ranger stands as the primary Starter tower in the game, unleashing bursts of bullets followed by a brief cooldown. Upgrade the Bottom Path, and it gains a grenade-tossing ability with a quick 15-second cooldown. Moreover, a passive skill launches an M203 grenade, erupting into flames upon impact. Opt for the Top Path, and the Ranger extends its range, gains stealth detection, and transforms into a fully automatic force.

At the base level, the Ranger fires in bursts and lacks the ability to detect stealth or possess any special skills. Notably, the Top Path is $275 more budget-friendly than the Bottom Path.

Typically, favoring Top Path Rangers is wise for higher overall DPS when multiple units are deployed. However, the Bottom Path Ranger proves valuable in overwhelming situations, contributing significant DPS with its Passive and Regular abilities against hordes of foes.

Tips

  1. Optimal Placement: Given the tower’s extensive range, it’s advisable to position it towards the rear to avoid occupying the space crucial for shorter-range towers.
  2. Early Game Advantage: The Ranger boasts the lowest base cost upon the game’s release, offering easy accessibility in the initial stages. Capitalize on this advantage to strengthen your early-game defenses.
  3. Late-Game Superiority: In the late game, the Ranger outshines the Shotgunner. Thanks to its Bottom Path and Top Path upgrades, the Ranger exhibits superior DPS and range, making it a more formidable choice.
  4. Strategic Prioritization: For maximum damage output, prioritize the 5-X Ranger in late-game scenarios. Conversely, opt for the X-5 Ranger to excel in crowd control DPS, ensuring a well-balanced and effective defense strategy.
