Where to Find Smithing Stones in Elden Ring

In Elden Ring, the power of your character is not solely determined by your attributes and stats. To truly become formidable in the Lands Between, you’ll need potent weapons and catalysts. Smithing Stones play a crucial role in enhancing your gear, increasing their potency, damage, and scaling with your character’s stats. This guide will provide a comprehensive overview of Smithing Stones, their types, locations, and how to effectively use them.

What Are Smithing Stones?

Smithing Stones are essential items used to upgrade weapons and catalysts in Elden Ring. There are two primary types: Regular and Somber Smithing Stones. They come in various ranks, with higher-ranked stones allowing for more significant enhancements. Certain unique weapons that possess special properties or abilities require Somber Smithing Stones.

Finding Smithing Stones

Smithing Stones can be found throughout the Lands Between. You’ll discover them on random humanoid bodies scattered across the open world, inside mini dungeons, and off the beaten path in Legacy Dungeons. The level of Smithing Stones you find will typically correspond to the difficulty of the area. Placed bodies only yield loot once.

Additionally, you can acquire Smithing Stones by exploring tunnel mines that double as mini dungeons. Within these areas, you’ll often encounter enemy diggers extracting ores. Interact with the clumps of ore on the walls to obtain Smithing Stones, or loot glowing white ore for Somber Smithing Stones.
